Issues

Housing

Every Nevadan deserves a safe and stable place to call home. Housing is a human right, and is at the center of people’s ability to thrive. In Nevada, landlord friendly laws and corporate greed are bleeding Nevadan tenants dry with skyrocketing rents, hidden fees and overall pricing families out of the housing market. This election is more crucial than ever for renters to unite their voices together so that we can get champions in the Nevada Legislature and Governor’s Mansion that will fight for rent control and tenant rights.

Environmental Justice

We believe everyone has the right to live in a clean and healthy environment, regardless of their race, income or immigration status. Those we elect in power must base their policy on mutual respect and justice for all peoples, not towards extractive and destructive corporations. That means that as lawmakers look to expand into a green future, we don’t sacrifice indigenous communities as a part of our climate strategy like at Thacker Pass or leave behind communities of color in aging neighborhoods. We have made small progress towards local and national climate policy and it is crucial to protect those advancements by winning the 2022 election and electing progressive candidates

Immigration

Nevadans of all backgrounds regardless of race and immigration status deserve the right to thrive, seek employment, and start their families in the state free from the fear of deportation and family separation. Immigration reform is long overdue, we need to build a future that welcomes folks from all cultures, does not criminalize immigrants, and provides a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the country and others to come. That can only be done by voting for champions of immigration reform!

Economic Justice

All people, no matter income, race, sexuality, or employment status deserve access to quality affordable healthcare. By voting for progressive champions up and down the ballot we can advocate to increase the federal minimum wage, advance quality, affordable, and accessible health care, and make greedy corporations pay their fair share.

Mass Incarceration

Too often, we see through state sanctioned violence the criminalization and brutality of Black and brown communities. We seek to structurally transform Nevada’s criminal justice system by organizing with people who have direct experience with mass incarceration and their families. We must elect leaders who see and understand the importance of police accountability and transparency, as well as prioritizing the need to fund communities over the carceral system. Education, services and rehabilitation are ways Nevadans can not only survive, but thrive.
