PLAN Action Celebrates Nevadans Making Bold Choices Within A Competitive Primary Election
PLAN Action is proud that voters made their voices heard & elected a diverse slate of democracy defending candidates
Las Vegas, NV–– As the last few ballots are being counted, first and foremost we want to thank our county staff and election officials for yet another safe and effective election. We are proud to report that voters have supported 44 of our total 52 endorsed candidates, including 6 out of our 9 top priority PLANista candidates. Following the confirmation of these election results, PLAN Action released the following statement.
Laura Martin, Executive Director of PLAN Action said: “When we first began our endorsement process, we ensured that any candidate that received our endorsement would put the community first and co-govern with us to solve our core issues. Electing candidates with our shared values is only one of the first steps to ensuring Nevadans’ right to thrive. We congratulate and celebrate all the fantastic candidates that won their primary elections and are looking forward to supporting them in the general election.
“We are extremely proud of the campaigns that our endorsed candidates ran, full of joy and centered around people and communities. We specifically want to congratulate and uplift Rueben D’Silva, Cecelia Gonzalez, Mercedes Krouse, Linda Cavazos, and Erica Mosca, for their outstanding community driven campaigns, we are honored to be in this movement alongside such incredible leaders as it appears they all will be headed to the general election.
“While we are devastated that two of our top priority candidates did not win their elections, we see the community impact that Jovan Jackson and Ozzie Fumo made this election season. Every door we knocked on, every phone call we made, and every community conversation we had was progress towards PLAN Actions’ bold vision for a thriving Nevada and we are proud to have Ozzie Fumo and Jovan Jackson alongside us in the fight; elected officials or not.
“Looking ahead at the general election, we have to continue to organize and empower our community because the newly selected republican slate is a direct threat to our democracy. We must defeat election deniers, January 6th defenders, and propaganda pushers. Nevada is not MAGA-country and it never will be. Nevada’s diverse state must fight to uphold our values, and the last two elections are proof that we are more than capable. We will commit to fight off Lombardo and his anti-immigrant agenda, Laxalt’s dream of being an off-brand Trump, and Jim Marchant’s constant peddling of the “Big Lie”. In 2022, we WILL defend our democracy.”
